Mr. Schaefer and the BOP has been working hard on a number of school projects. They continue to install emergency lighting throughout the building. Emergency light fixtures have been installed in the Lecture Room, Raider Room, two fixtures in the hall outside the Lecture and Raider Room, band storeage room, boys locker room, girls locker room, both stairwells, outside room 18, outside the offices, principal’s office, and secretary’s office. Other shelter in place areas yet to be done are the Band Room, and the Storeage room downstairs. We will also install an emergency lighting fixture in the boiler room.

Also, they are working on outside lighting. Along the south side walk and near the front steps new fixtures have been installed. Two new lights along the front of the building are also in the works. Those fixtures would match the two new ones.

Be sure to say thanks to the BOP members- Mr. Schaefer, Mr. Bietlich, Mr. Rich -when you see them.

MAPS testing program

Category: General Announcement — Mike Koestler @ 2:47 pm

A follow up note to out Wednesday faculty meeting. Northwest Evaluation Association is the company which sell the MAPS testing software product. This is software is placed on a server onsite. Student tests are uploaded back to the company. Once the company has the data, they return results in days. We may test up to four times yearly without penalty. There is a training package with the program. Tests are in math, reading, and english. Comments on the positive side stress that this testing systems is more of a tool to assist in instructional decisions than a report of a test. The focus is on student growth. WELS LES/ALHS Principals’ conference will hear a presenter on this topic November 17.

Category: General Announcement — Mike Koestler @ 10:52 am

A few highlights on the board meeting from this morning:

  • Reports on Joint Operations Task Force. Brian Tohal has agreed to serve as SP rep. A second candidate has been asked. We are waiting for a reponse. SJ is working on representative on their end. No names to report yet. Principal Koestler and President Fishcer are drafting a letter to establish the first meeting of the task force.
  • BOCD financial report given. It is posted in the workroom.
  • Discussion on BOCD substitute teacher policies. We have had an unusual number substitutes to start the year. We want to learn from the experience. We pray the Lord bless us all with good health!
  • Accreditation is being sought out. We have some questions for CPS on the process including how will Joint Operations plans affect accreditation. Principal Koestler will follow up with the proper directors of the program at synod offices.
  • Para funding plans. BOCD is requesting we ask individual people to respond first via the Raider Record. Secondly, ask PTO what funds are available. This will be addressed on an ongoing basis. One option is to assign the work to a task force. Currently, we are supporting the program on gift funds. God continues to provide according to His will.
  • Budget worksheets for band, athletics, and library were approved.
  • Next meeting is Wednesday, September 27, 6:30 a.m.
  • Various minutes and reports from the BOCD and church council will be posted on the workroom bulletin board. Please read at your convenience.
