With four or five services each weekend and additional midweek and festival services, ushering provides a great way for members of St. Paul’s to serve the Lord, We currently have about 70 men and women serving on 14 usher crews. Crews serve on a rotating basis and generally usher 16 to 20 services a year.

Ushers are most visible as they greet people, distribute bulletins and gather the offering, and guide people to communion but there are a considerable number of “behind the scene” duties that they also perform.

At least a half hour before each service and after the last service of the day, each of the church’s eleven exterior doors must be unlocked or locked. All of the lights need to be turned on and off. The candles must be lit and the bell rung. A count of the worshippers is taken and recorded each service. At the end of each service ushers are required to collect pages from the Attendance Register found at the end of each pew. Ushers also need to know the procedures to follow in a medical, fire, or weather related emergencies – quite a responsibility.

St. Paul’s Volunteer Coordinator Joanne Wolf and Usher Coordinator Dale Markgraf keep the ushering program up and running. They are indeed grateful for the ushers who are serving today and those who have served in years past. Each year there are circumstances that come up when individuals must step out of ushering. This means there is turnover, so new ushers are needed at various times throughout the year. When you see an announcement in the bulletin that an usher is needed, we hope that you will consider this opportunity to serve the Lord.

We welcome all levels of singers. All we are looking for is a love for your Lord and a desire to share his message through music. We do a variety of styles including traditional, contemporary, acapella, accompanied, etc…. We try hard to make this accessible to everyone. We sing once a month and also one time during both the Advent and Lent evening services. We also try to get out and visit shut-ins at least one time a year to share with those that aren’t able to come to church on a regular basis. I know everyone has busy schedules and we try to be flexible and understanding of that. We just want you to know that you will be missed and we love to have you with us singing.

Rehearsals: Wednesday – 6:00PM – 6:45PM

Your responsibility
- Arrive on time for rehearsals
- Bring music along to all rehearsals and singing opportunities
- Arrive 15-20 minutes early for church singing opportunities for warm-up
- Come with a love of your Lord and a love of music

I look forward to having you in my choir. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me any time.
