Hailing from Flint, Michigan where his father served as a WELS pastor for 41+ years, St. Paul’s newest pastor came here in October 2021 after serving Trinity Lutheran Church in Waukesha, Wisconsin for the past 27+ years. Pronounced: ALE-HA-FEN, or Pastor “O”, he now serves as our coordinating pastor working with planning, worship, the Board of Elders, and the Board of Gifts & Talents. He graduated from our WELS training schools: Michigan Lutheran Seminary in 1985, from Northwestern College in 1990, and Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in 1994. He is married to Christine (Heidenreich) Oelhafen. They have three grown children and proud grandparents of one grandchild: little Marie. They love getting to know New Ulm. Besides ministry, he enjoys sports of any kind and traveling (as their kids are located in three different states). He looks forward to meeting you and serving you with Christ Jesus.
